Capacity Building Initiatives for Tourism Management Administrations
The programme “Capacity Building Initiatives for TMAs” is directed towards officials of national, regional and local administrations of UNWTO Member States and seeks to strengthen their capacity through two lines of work:
Practicum
This Programme is directed towards public administration officials of UNWTO Member States. Its objectives are to strengthen ties between UNWTO and the TMAs, familiarize participants with the programmes and instruments offered by UNWTO, to improve the participants’ knowledge in tourism policy or other specialized areas, and to build a network of officials to facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences between members.
Learning area
This programme aims to improve the capacity of Tourism Management Administrations (TMAs) with training programmes in core areas of TMAs responsibility. It is directed towards managers of national, regional and local tourism administrations. Courses can be organized in different subject areas which fall within the work of the public administration of the tourism sector. These include: Tourism policy and strategy, sustainable development, destination management, quality, etc.
